Sillery Gaon is being hailed as the New Darjeeling by the locals, due to its similar features. Surrounded by tall pine trees on all sides, this place is at a height of 6000 ft in the Darjeeling district. It is near to Pedong, which makes it easier to travel here via Kalimpong. This area is also known for the Cinchona Plantation that was planted here by the British for the production of Quinine to cure Malaria. The wilderness of the village, the chirping of the Himalayan birds, the fragrance of different trees and its flowers will entice your mind.
When you reach the NJP station, from here you have to take a car to gangtok. Stay there for a while and then again start a journey from there to Pedong via Kalimpong. The rented cars from your Sillery Gaon home stays shall pick you up henceforth.
When you reach the Bagdogra airpot, you will have many options to each Pedong or Kalimpong. And, then you can trek for 8kms or book another car to Sillery Gaon.
Your booked Bus will drop you at Siliguri Bus bay and from there you have to continue your journey by bus, halt at Gangtok and then take another car to Sillery Gaon.
Sillery Gaon would make your visit a rejuvenating one, hence you can visit here anytime of the year. However, rainy season is not the most ideal time to visit here. Therefore, you can come down here in the winter season, to have a clear view of Mt Kanchenjunga, and feel its glory.
